Melbourne Teddy Bear Fair

Josey and I had a lovely day last Sunday at the Melbourne Teddy Bear Fair. It was a very long preparation leading up to the show, but all of our efforts were very worthwhile. Josey's stand looked amazing with all of her gorgeous new designs on display for all to see.
The show was hosted for the second time by Melissa Kemp (Teddy Bear Fairs Australia). We have to send her a big thank you and congratulations for all of the hard work she did to put this show together. It is a massive task to undertake!
We will be here once again to support and help with the preparations for next year.

There were many people who contributed on the day. Ros and her lovely girls kept us fed and energized throughout the day with some very tasty food.
Kerrie was a gem helping out on our stand when we were busy and staying on after a long day to help load up the big truck to take our stock back to the shop.
Josey worked so hard all day.... I think she was in bed before 8pm that night! I really wore her out.
A huge thank you to all of the traders for coming along, it was a great day.

We even had a visitor from Singapore (Wayne Lim from Wayneston Bears)

We hope you had a great time at the show and are enjoying the rest of your holiday in Melbourne.

Here are just few of the photos I have managed to get. I have had to rely on others for photos as I didn't get away to take any of my own.

We hope to see you all at the 2013 show!

gOOd-ByE aPriL...

Well where has this month gone???  I can't believe how fast the days are flying -- you could say that they are almost out of control.  Wizzing past at a million miles an hour!!!

PLEASE slow down a little as we have a show to get ready for!!!  That's right - Teddy Bear Fairs Australia are once again hosting their annual show at the BERWICK LEISURE CENTRE on Sunday 6th May, 2012.  Last year the Show was a huge success and this year it's proving to be bigger and better!!!

Come along and support the Show as it is only one of a handful left where you can actually hold, cuddle and bond with your baby before making the decision to add him/her to your hug...  Not to mention all the delicious mohair and supplies that will be on sale there...

For the eager beavers we are once again selling "Early Bird Tickets"  These tickets are priced at just $15.00 each.  All holders of these tickets will be given a free "goody" bag upon arrival and presentation of their ticket.  Going by the bags given out last year, this offer is very well worth it!!!  The EARLY BIRD tickets may be purchased from us personally or on-line, or directly from the Teddy Bear Fairs Australia website.
Now I'd better stop talking and get back to some real work as we have kits, kits and MORE KITS to prepare.  But just before I go, I want to give you a little sneak peak of my PANDORA finished just in time to make it to Berwick.  Patterns and kits are almost ready and available exclusively from us...  Look out for Pandora's sister TIFFANY who is hurrying along to make it in time as well!!!

Hope to see you there...  and remember: BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!!!

Look what has just arrived "hot off the press"...

We are so very proud to bring to you our 7th Volume of Bear Tales!!!  Our brand new year of Bear Tales begins once again with this awesome issue 1...  In it you will find the patterns, photos and instructions for Fifi by Monica Spicer, Flutter by Merilyn Pursell, Mei Li by Karen Alderson, Hopsy by Charmaine McMurdo and Tammy with her baby girl by Heather Harwood.
For those not familiar with it -- Bear Tales is a publication that Bear Essence brings out annually.  We approach different artists over the course of the year, asking them to design something specifically for us to publish in Bear Tales.  All of their designs are exclusive to us for twelve months and are not sold separately.  A yearly subscription costs $60 (including postage within Australia)  Excellent value as over the couse of the year you will receive three separate issues with a total of at least 15 patterns, worth over $300.   We think this is the best one yet!

We stock complete kits for all of the projects featured in Bear Tales and the details can be found on our website.  Back issues of Volumes 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are also available.

CiNNaMon wITh jOseY...

This past Tuesday was the final day of our 5 week Beginners Class.   Five consecutive 3 hour lessons ensured that there was plenty of time not only to complete the bear but also for all the finishing touches -- such as the handpainted cardigan, the head piece and the handmade buttons and brooches.
Everyone did an amazing job -- and they have all been caught - hook, line and sinker by the Bearmaking Bug (except Brenda and Sue of course as they cannot be classified as Beginners but joined in the class just because they loved Cinnamon so much.

This class has been so successful that we will be running it again next term -- keep an eye on our website for all the relevant details.
